National Donut Day

2026 marks Lloydminster and District Co-op’s seventh year celebrating National Donut Day!

Did you know National Donut Day started in 1938? Originating as a fundraiser for the Chicago Salvation Army, National Donut Day’s goal was to help those in need during the Great Depression. The day was named after the Salvation Army “donut lassies” or “donut dollies”, who would prepare comforting treats and serve coffee to uniformed soldiers fighting on the front-line during World War I.

Lloydminster and District Co-op is humbled to connect with our local Lloydminster Salvation Army food bank to help those who need it most right here at home. Donuts can be ordered online from May 21 to June 3rd, 2026, and will be available in store on Friday, June 5, 2026. A portion of every donut sold will benefit Lloydminster Salvation Army food bank.
