Student Director

The Student Director Program provides Lakeland College students with an opportunity to gain practical governance experience while contributing to the strategic discussions of the Board of Directors. The program is intended to foster leadership development, provide a youth perspective, and demonstrate Lloydminster and District Co-op's commitment to developing future cooperative leaders.
Eligibility
The Student Director must:
- Be enrolled in Lakeland College during the term of appointment.
- Demonstrate an interest in leadership, governance, and the cooperative business model.
- Be available to attend Board and assigned committee meetings throughout the term.
Role and Responsibilities
The Student Director will:
- Attend Board meetings and assigned committee meetings from October through April, and any additional meetings as invited by the Board.
- Review meeting materials in advance and actively prepare for discussions.
- Participate in Board and committee dialogue by asking questions, providing perspectives, and contributing to discussions.
- Learn the principles of governance, strategic planning, financial oversight, and cooperative leadership.
- Conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with the Board's Code of Conduct (GP-8) and governance policies.
